How to Draw an Asia Map

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw an asia map in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the top coast.

Print

  1. Step 1: The top coast

Start near the top, left of the middle. Draw a bumpy line climbing right. Stop in the top right.

Tip Asia is the biggest of all the continents. Take your time with its long coast.

  2. Step 2: The hanging tail

Carry on from there. Slant down to the right. Stop at the tip of a tail hanging down.

  3. Step 3: The big bay

Start at the tip. Go back up, curve round a deep bay, then wiggle down to a small point.

  4. Step 4: The round bulge

Carry on from the point. Dip in, then curve out round a big bulge. Stop at the next point.

  5. Step 5: The thin finger

Carry on from there. Dip in, draw a thin finger pointing down, then slant up. Stop at a corner.

  6. Step 6: The big triangle

From the corner draw a big V: down to a point, then up again. Stop at the next corner.

Tip This big triangle of land is India.

  7. Step 7: The narrow gulf

Carry on from there. Go left, then up into a long narrow gulf and back. Stop at its corner.

  8. Step 8: The big block

Start at that corner. Slant down left, turn, then go straight up the left side. Stop halfway up.

  9. Step 9: The west side

Carry on up. Go round a bump on the left, then draw a long line up to your start.

  10. Step 10: Japan

Off the right side, draw a long curved island. Add a small island above its top end.

  11. Step 11: More islands

Draw 4 more islands along the bottom: a small drop, a long one, a round one, a tall one.

  12. Step 12: The mountains

Just above the big triangle, draw 3 little triangle mountains in a row.

Tip These are the Himalayas, the highest mountains in the world.

  13. Step 13: Blue sea

Go over your lines. Colour the sea light blue, all around the land, out to the edges.

  14. Step 14: Green and brown

Colour the land and all the islands green. Colour the 3 mountains brown. Your map of Asia is done!
