How to Draw a Nebraska Map
Draw a nebraska map in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the long top.
Step 1: The long top
Start near the top left. Draw a long straight line to the right. Stop past the middle.
Tip Nebraska is a long, low state. Keep this line level.
Step 2: The river begins
Carry on from there. Wiggle a line to the right, sloping gently down. Stop at a small corner.
Tip This wiggly edge is a big river, the Missouri.
Step 3: Down the river
Carry on from the corner. Wiggle a long line down, leaning right. Stop near the bottom of your paper.
Step 4: The long bottom
Carry on from there. Draw a long straight line to the left. Stop before you are under the start.
Step 5: The step
Carry on from there. Draw a short line up, then a line left. Stop under the start of the top.
Tip This step makes the panhandle, the part that sticks out on the left.
Step 6: Close the map
Carry on from there. Draw a straight line up. Join the start of your top line.
Step 7: The capital star
Near the right side, a little below the middle, draw a star for the capital city, Lincoln.
Step 8: Chimney Rock
In the part that sticks out on the left, draw a wide pointy hill with a chimney on top.
Tip Chimney Rock is a real rock tower that people walking west used to look for.
Step 9: Sandy rock
Go over your lines. Colour the rock a pale sandy colour.
Step 10: Green land
Colour all the land green, around the star and the rock.
Step 11: Red star
Colour the star red. Your map of Nebraska is done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a nebraska map, drawn by you.
