How to Draw a Mobius Strip
Draw a mobius strip in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: back of the loop.
Step 1: Back of the loop
Start on the left, halfway down your paper. Draw a wide, low rainbow arch and stop level on the right.
Tip A Mobius strip is a strip of paper joined in a loop, with one twist in it.
Step 2: Two short sides
From each end of the arch, draw a short straight line down. Stop both at the same height.
Step 3: First edge
Start at the top of the left side. Curve along the front, then dip down to the right side's bottom.
Tip It is a long lazy S lying on its side.
Step 4: Second edge
Start at the bottom of the left side. Swoop up across your line and stop at the right side's top.
Tip The 2 edges cross just once, in the middle. That crossing is the twist!
Step 5: Inside the loop
Under the big arch, draw a matching arch. Start on the left sloping edge and stop on the right one.
Tip Start and stop level with the middle of the short sides.
Step 6: Three sparkles
In the space round the loop, draw 3 little sparkles: 2 up top and 1 down at the right.
Step 7: A shadow
Under the loop, draw a long thin flat oval for its shadow, with the loop sitting on it.
Step 8: Yellow sparkles
Go over your lines. Colour the 3 sparkles yellow.
Step 9: Grey shadow
Colour the shadow grey.
Step 10: Light blue strip
Colour the 2 front parts of the strip light blue, right up to the twist.
Step 11: Darker blue inside
Colour the inside of the loop, at the back, darker blue. Leave the hole white. Your Mobius strip is done!
Tip Run a finger along a real one: it has only 1 side!
