How to Draw Musical Notes
Draw musical notes in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the first note head.
Step 1: The first note head
Below the middle, on the left, draw a fat oval tilted a little, its right end higher.
Step 2: The second note head
To the right and a little higher, draw another fat oval the same size and tilt, with a gap between.
Tip The second note sits higher, like it is climbing.
Step 3: First note's eyes
On the first note head, draw 2 big egg eyes with a gap between. Put a black dot in each.
Step 4: Second note's eyes
Draw the same 2 big eyes on the second note head.
Step 5: Smiles and cheeks
Under each pair of eyes, draw a little U smile, and a small oval cheek on each side.
Step 6: Two stems
From the right side of each note head, draw a tall stem straight up, the second one higher.
Step 7: The beam
Join the tops of the 2 stems with one thick slanted bar, from the first stem to the second.
Tip The beam is as thick as a finger and slants up to the right.
Step 8: Little notes
Draw a little music note floating on the left and another on the right: a dot, a stem, a flag.
Step 9: Sparkles
Draw 3 sparkle stars around the notes.
Step 10: Yellow sparkles
Go over your lines, then colour the 3 sparkles yellow.
Step 11: Pink cheeks
Colour the little cheeks pink.
Step 12: Blue notes
Colour the note heads, stems and beam blue, around the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Purple little notes
Colour the 2 little notes purple.
