How to Draw a Mug
Draw a mug in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rim.
Step 1: The rim
A little above the middle, draw a wide flat oval a hand across. Draw a smaller oval just inside.
Tip Two flat ovals, one inside the other, like a thick ring.
Step 2: Mug body
Start at each end of the oval. Draw a straight line down, 2 fingers long. Join them with a smile.
Step 3: Two big eyes
On the front, below the middle, draw 2 big egg eyes. Add a big black dot and a white shine.
Step 4: The handle
Start on the right side under the rim. Draw a big fat C and stop near the bottom.
Tip Like a big letter C stuck to the side.
Step 5: Smile and cheeks
Start under the left eye. Draw a wide U smile and stop under the right eye. Add 2 cheeks.
Step 6: Two stripes
Near the bottom, start on the left side. Draw a smile across to the right side. Add another just under.
Step 7: Hot steam
Above the rim, draw 3 wiggly steam lines rising up, the middle one tallest.
Tip Start each steam line on the rim and wiggle upward.
Step 8: Table and shadow
Draw a long table line just touching the bottom of the mug. Add a thin flat oval shadow under it.
Step 9: Brown cocoa, pink cheeks
Go over your lines. Colour the cocoa inside the rim light brown and the 2 cheeks pink.
Step 10: Grey shadow
Colour the shadow under the mug grey.
Step 11: Red mug, white stripe
Colour the mug, rim and handle red around the cocoa. Leave the stripe and eyes white. Your cocoa is done!
