How to Draw a Mosasaurus

Draw a mosasaurus in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: long head.

Step 1: Long head
On the left, draw a long low head. Start at the neck, round the snout, stop under the jaw.
Step 2: Big eye
Draw a big eye high on the head, with a dot and a shine. Dot a nostril on the snout.
Step 3: Smile and teeth
Start at the snout tip. Draw a long smile back under the eye, then hang 5 pointy teeth along it.
Step 4: Long back
Start at the top of the neck. Draw a long back sloping down to a thin tail near the right.
Step 5: Belly
Start under the jaw. Draw a long low belly curve, and stop just below the end of the back.
Step 6: Tail fin
From the end of the back, draw a small crescent fin with a long bottom point, back to the belly.
Step 7: Front paddle
Under the chest, draw a wide paddle from the belly, back to a round tip, and up to the belly.
Tip Rub out the belly line inside it.
Step 8: Back paddle
Under the back half, draw a smaller paddle the same way, from the belly and back up to it.
Tip Rub out the belly line inside it.
Step 9: Far paddles
Behind each paddle, draw a far paddle tip peeking out, from its back edge up to the belly.
Step 10: Belly band
Start on the smile under the eye. Draw a long curve along the side to the belly near the tail.
Tip It passes above the paddles.
Step 11: Sea and bubbles
Near the top, draw a row of wave bumps from edge to edge. Add 3 bubbles rising above the snout.
Step 12: Belly and paddles
Colour the chin and belly under the band cream, leaving the teeth white. Colour the 2 big paddles leaf green.
Step 13: Green top
Colour the head, back, tail and 2 peeking paddles green, around the cream belly. Leave the eye white.
Step 14: Blue sea
Colour the sea blue all around the mosasaurus, from the waves down to the bottom.
