How to Draw a Donkey
Draw a donkey in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big round head.
Step 1: Big round head
Near the top left, draw a big round head with soft cheeks. Leave lots of room on the right.
Tip A big head is what makes it cute.
Step 2: Eyes and nose
Draw 2 big oval eyes with black dots. Under them, draw a big egg nose with nostrils and a smile.
Step 3: Tall ears
On each top corner, draw a tall leaf ear as tall as the head, with a smaller leaf inside.
Step 4: Neck and mane
Start behind the head and slope the neck down to the back. Add the chest and a bumpy mane.
Tip The mane sits on top of the neck, from behind the head down to the back.
Step 5: Bean body
From the neck, draw a big soft bean body: a long back, a round bottom, a tummy and a chest.
Tip A bean, not a loaf: the bottom is rounder and higher.
Step 6: Two legs
Draw a ground line low down. Draw a front leg from the chest and a back leg from the bottom.
Tip A hoof is a little doorstop with a line across its top.
Step 7: The far legs
Draw 2 thinner legs peeking out, one behind the front leg and one in front of the back leg.
Step 8: The tail
From the top corner of the bottom, draw a thin tail hanging down, with a leaf-shaped tuft on the end.
Step 9: Cream nose, peach ears
Go over your lines, then colour the nose cream and the ear insides peach. Leave the eyes white.
Step 10: Grey donkey, slate hair
Colour the donkey grey around the nose and ear insides, then the mane, tail tuft and hooves slate.

Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a donkey, drawn by you.
