How to Draw a Moon with a Cat

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a moon with a cat in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the moon's outside.

Print

  1. Step 1: The moon's outside

Start at the top left. Draw a big U moon, down round the bottom and up to the top right.

Tip The moon lies on its back like a boat, horns up.

  2. Step 2: The inside curve

Start at the left horn again. Draw a shallower U inside the first, up to the right horn.

  3. Step 3: The cat's head

In the hollow of the moon, draw the cat's head: a big egg on its side with chubby fur-pointed cheeks.

Tip Nearly half as wide as the moon, with 2 fur points on each cheek.

  4. Step 4: Pointy ears

On each top corner of the head, draw a tall pointy ear leaning out, with a small triangle inside.

Tip Ears lean out a little, like a cat listening.

  5. Step 5: Two big eyes

On the middle of the head, draw 2 big oval eyes with black dots and a white shine.

  6. Step 6: Nose and smile

Under the eyes, draw a small triangle nose and a W smile hanging from its tip.

  7. Step 7: The cat's body

Start under each cheek. Draw a plump side curving down, and stop at the moon's inside curve.

  8. Step 8: Whiskers and stripes

Draw 2 whiskers out from each cheek, and 3 short stripes down from the top of the head.

  9. Step 9: Three little stars

Draw 3 small five-point stars, one top left, one top right and one low on the left.

  10. Step 10: A little cloud

Low on the right, draw a small puffy cloud with 4 round bumps on top and one gentle curve underneath.

  11. Step 11: Yellow moon and stars

Go over your lines. Colour the moon and the 3 stars yellow.

  12. Step 12: Pink ears and nose

Colour the inside of each ear and the cat's nose pink.

  13. Step 13: Ginger cat, white cloud

Colour the cat ginger around the pink. Leave the eyes white, colour the cloud white, and you're done!
