How to Draw a Monstera Plant

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a monstera plant in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the pot rim.

Print

  1. Step 1: The pot rim

A little below the middle draw a wide flat box for the pot rim, a hand wide, a finger tall.

  2. Step 2: The pot

Start under the left end of the rim. Go down leaning in, across, and back up to the rim.

Tip The pot is narrower at the bottom.

  3. Step 3: 2 big eyes

On the pot, below the rim, draw 2 big egg eyes one eye apart. Colour a black dot in each.

  4. Step 4: Smile and cheeks

From under one eye draw a wide U smile to under the other. Add an oval cheek past each end.

  5. Step 5: 3 stalks

Start on top of the rim. Draw 3 curving stalks, thinner at the top: one up, one left, one right.

Tip Keep the stalks a little apart where they meet the rim.

  6. Step 6: The middle leaf

On top of the middle stalk draw a big heart-shaped leaf with deep notches cut into both sides, like fingers.

  7. Step 7: 2 more leaves

Draw the same notched leaf on the left stalk and the right stalk, tucked a little behind the middle leaf.

  8. Step 8: Holes

In each leaf draw little long holes between the cuts: 3 in the middle leaf, 2 in each side leaf.

Tip Keep each hole away from the ends of the cuts.

  9. Step 9: Middle veins

Draw one line up the middle of each leaf, from the stalk to just short of the tip.

  10. Step 10: The table

Draw a long straight line along the bottom of the pot, from far left to far right, for the table.

  11. Step 11: Pink cheeks

Go over your lines. Colour the 2 oval cheeks pink.

  12. Step 12: Ginger pot

Colour the pot and rim ginger, around the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white.

  13. Step 13: Green leaves

Colour the 3 leaves and stalks green, leaving the holes white. Your monstera is done!
