How to Draw a Monocle

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a monocle in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the big ring.

Print

  1. Step 1: The big ring

A little left of the middle of your paper draw a big circle, as big as your fist.

  2. Step 2: The glass

Inside it draw a second circle a finger in, all the way round, so the rim is thick.

  3. Step 3: A happy face

In the glass draw 2 big round eyes, a wide U smile, and a small cheek at each end.

  4. Step 4: The little eyelet

On the lower right of the rim draw a tiny ring, like a bead stuck to the edge.

  5. Step 5: The chain

Start under the eyelet. Draw a long lazy S curve down to the right and stop near the bottom.

  6. Step 6: The clip

At the end of the chain draw a small slanted bar, like a tiny flat box, for the clip.

  7. Step 7: Shines

Inside the glass at the top left, draw a thin curved strip along the rim, then a tiny oval.

  8. Step 8: Sparkles

Draw 3 sparkle stars around the monocle: 1 top right, 1 far right and 1 bottom left.

  9. Step 9: Gold rim, pink cheeks

Colour the rim, the eyelet and the clip gold yellow, and the cheeks pink.

  10. Step 10: Sky glass, yellow stars

Colour the stars yellow and the glass sky blue around the pink cheeks. Leave the eyes and shines white.
