How to Draw a Meteor
Draw a meteor in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: lumpy rock.
Step 1: Lumpy rock
Right of the middle, draw a big lumpy rock, wider than tall, with soft bumps all round like a potato.
Tip Leave lots of room on the left for its fiery tail.
Step 2: Craters
Draw a big crater low on the rock, a small one high up, a tiny one. Add 2 shadow curves.
Tip Make the craters different sizes and spread them apart.
Step 3: Fiery tail
Start on the rock's upper left. Draw a flame with 3 soft tongues streaming left. Stop on its lower left.
Tip The tail streams out behind because the meteor is zooming right.
Step 4: Inner flame
Inside the big flame, draw a smaller flame with 3 tongues, starting and ending on the rock.
Step 5: Speed lines
Behind the rock, draw 2 short speed lines, 1 above the tail and 1 below, streaming the same way.
Step 6: Stars in space
Draw 3 four-point sparkle stars around the meteor. Add 2 tiny dots for far-away stars.
Step 7: Yellow flame and stars
Colour the small inner flame and the 3 stars yellow.
Step 8: Orange fire
Colour the big flame orange, around the yellow flame.
Step 9: Brown rock
Go over your lines. Colour the rock brown, around the craters.
Step 10: Slate craters
Colour the craters slate grey. Your meteor is done!
