How to Draw a Merman
Draw a merman in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper draw an egg for the head, a bit narrower at the chin.
Tip Leave most of the page below for the body and the tail.
Step 2: The face
Below the middle of the head draw 2 big shiny eyes. Add a nose, a smile and 2 eyebrows.
Step 3: Wavy hair
From the left of the head draw a row of tufts over the top, down to the right side.
Step 4: Seaweed crown and beard
On the hair draw 3 wavy seaweed leaves. Under the mouth draw a short beard hugging the chin.
Step 5: Neck and chest
Draw 2 neck lines. From the left one draw a U neck and a broad chest, ending at the right.
Step 6: Tank top and shell
From each armpit draw a curve up to the shoulder. Hang a small fan shell under the neck.
Step 7: Arms
From each shoulder draw an arm down to the wrist, wider at the top, with a soft elbow bend.
Step 8: Mitten hands
On each wrist draw a round mitten hand with a little thumb bump toward the body.
Step 9: Fish tail
From the hips draw a tail narrowing down to a stem, then flaring out into 2 fish fins.
Step 10: Scales and ground
On the tail draw a few rows of short U scales. Then draw a long ground line under the tail.
Step 11: Peach skin, pink cheeks
Colour all the skin peach, with a pink circle on each cheek. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Tan shell, blue top
Colour the shell tan and the tank top blue around it.
Step 13: Green tail, brown hair
Colour the tail, fins and seaweed green, and the hair and beard brown. Your merman is done!
