How to Draw Mashed Potatoes
Draw mashed potatoes in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the rim.
Step 1: The rim
A little below the middle draw a wide flat oval for the top of the bowl, wider than your hand.
Step 2: The bowl
From the left end of the oval draw a big U down and round to the right end, flat underneath.
Tip A deep bowl, wider at the top.
Step 3: The mash
On top of the oval draw a fluffy cloud of mash: 4 soft bumps from end to end.
Tip Keep the bottom of the mound inside the oval.
Step 4: Pat of butter
Just below the top bump draw a flat slanted square of butter, with a thin strip along its front.
Tip Keep the whole pat inside the mash, like a little box lying on it.
Step 5: A melty drip
From the bottom of the butter draw a melty drip with 2 round bumps, and back up to the butter.
Step 6: Steam
Above the mash draw 2 soft S-shaped steam lines rising up, one each side of the butter.
Step 7: A stripe
Below the rim, draw one curve like a smile across the bowl, from the left side to the right side.
Step 8: The foot
Under the bowl draw a short flat foot, a little wider at the bottom.
Step 9: The table
Draw a table line from the left edge to the right edge, touching the bottom of the foot.
Step 10: Mash and butter
Go over your lines. Colour the mash cream around the butter, then colour the butter and drip yellow.
Step 11: Blue bowl
Colour the bowl and rim sky blue above the stripe, then blue below the stripe and on the foot.
