How to Draw a Dragon Blood Tree

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a dragon blood tree in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the trunk.

Print

  1. Step 1: The trunk

Start low in the middle. Draw a thick trunk up, wider at the bottom, and stop where it forks.

Tip This tree looks like a giant umbrella turned inside out.

  2. Step 2: Four branches

From the trunk top draw 4 branches curving up and out, thinner at the ends. Stop in the air.

  3. Step 3: Forks

Start at the open end of each outer branch. Draw 2 short twigs forking up in a V. Stop in the air.

  4. Step 4: The dome

Over the branches draw a huge dome like an umbrella. Give its bottom edge soft bumps over the branch tips.

  5. Step 5: Stones

On the ground draw 3 flat stones like little hills: 1 on the left and 2 on the right.

  6. Step 6: The ground

Start near the left edge, draw the ground line under the trunk, stop near the right. Skip the stones.

  7. Step 7: Sandy ground

Go over your lines, then colour the ground under the line sand, right to the edges of the paper.

  8. Step 8: Grey stones

    Colour the 3 stones grey.

  9. Step 9: Green dome

Colour the whole dome green, right up to its bumpy edge.

  10. Step 10: Brown trunk

Colour the trunk and all the branches brown. Your dragon blood tree is done!
