How to Draw a Maggot
Draw a maggot in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: round head.
Step 1: Round head
Near the top left of your paper, draw a round egg head, a little wider than tall.
Tip Leave room on the right and below for the fat body.
Step 2: Two big eyes
In the middle of the head, draw 2 big egg eyes with a big black dot in each.
Tip Leave a tiny white shine in each dot.
Step 3: Wide smile
Under the eyes, draw a wide smile: a flat line with a U under it.
Step 4: Bumpy back
Start on the right of the head. Draw 5 soft bumps curving down, then a big round tail end.
Tip The bumps get a bit bigger in the middle. Stop the tail low down.
Step 5: Bumpy tummy
Start under the head. Draw 5 soft bumps along the tummy and stop at the round tail.
Tip Each tummy bump sits under a back bump.
Step 6: Body rings
Start at each dip on the back. Draw a curved line across, stopping at the dip below. Draw 5.
Tip The rings are the maggot's segments.
Step 7: The dirt
Under the maggot, start at the left edge. Draw a soft dirt line across to the right edge.
Step 8: A grass tuft
Near the left end of the dirt line, draw 3 short grass blades growing up and fanning out.
Step 9: Cheeks and body
Colour 2 small peach cheeks under the eyes. Colour the head and body cream around them. Leave the eyes white.
Step 10: Mouth and dirt
Go over your lines. Colour the open mouth red and the space under the dirt line brown.
