How to Draw a Python Head
Draw a python head in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: blunt head.
Step 1: Blunt head
On the left draw a long U lying on its side. Start top right, go round the snout, stop below.
Tip A python's snout is blunt and round, not pointy.
Step 2: Thick neck
Start at the top of the head. Draw the neck over, down, along the bottom and up to the chin.
Tip Keep the neck a little narrower than the head.
Step 3: Big eye
Draw a big round eye near the top with a black dot inside. Dot a nostril by the snout.
Tip Leave a tiny white shine in the black dot.
Step 4: Long smile
Start on the front of the snout. Draw a long smile under the eye. Curl it up at the end.
Step 5: Heat pits
Just above the smile, dot 4 small pits in a row along the lip.
Tip A python feels warmth with these little pits.
Step 6: Forked tongue
From the front of the smile draw a thin tongue pointing out. Split the end into 2 points.
Step 7: Belly line
Start on the smile, near its end. Draw a line down the inside of the neck. Stop at the bottom.
Step 8: Eye stripe
Just behind the eye draw a thin leaf shape pointing back. Leave a small gap by the eye.
Step 9: Three blotches
Down the neck draw 3 big bean shapes, with a gap between each.
Tip Keep every bean inside the neck, away from the edges.
Step 10: Pink and cream
Colour the tongue pink. Colour the chin and the belly strip cream.
Step 11: Tan python
Colour the head and neck tan, around the stripe and blotches. Leave the eye white.
Step 12: Brown pattern
Colour the eye stripe and the 3 blotches brown. Go over your lines. Your python is done!
