How to Draw a Bighorn Sheep

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw a bighorn sheep in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Draw a sideways egg head with a long nose. Curve a line from the nose's top down to the chin.

Tip Start near the top left, with the nose pointing down to the left. The line marks a pale nose patch.

  2. Step 2: Eye and smile

Draw 1 big eye above the middle, with a dot and a shine. Add a small nose and a smile.

Tip Only 1 eye: we see the side of the head.

  3. Step 3: Big curly horn

From the top of the head, draw a thick horn curling back, down and forward. Add 3 lines across it.

Tip Make it fat where it leaves the head and thinner at its round tip, like a big C.

  4. Step 4: The ear

Under the horn, draw a small leaf ear pointing back.

  5. Step 5: Neck and body

From behind the horn, draw a thick neck and a big bean body. Stop under the chin.

Tip The back is long and straight, and the bottom is round.

  6. Step 6: Two legs

Draw a ground line. Add a front leg under the chest and a back leg under the bottom, with hooves.

Tip Each leg gets thinner down to a little doorstop hoof on the ground.

  7. Step 7: Far legs

Beside each leg, towards the middle, draw a thinner leg peeking out, down to its own hoof.

  8. Step 8: Tail and patch

Draw a short tail where the back ends. Curve a line from the tail's top down to just under it.

Tip The tail and the bit behind the line make a small pale patch.

  9. Step 9: Cream and tan

Go over your lines. Colour the nose patch, the tail and its patch cream, and the horn tan.

  10. Step 10: Colour it brown

Colour the head, ear, body and legs brown, around the cream and tan. Leave the eye white.

  11. Step 11: Hooves and nose

Colour the 4 hooves slate grey and the little nose black. Your bighorn sheep is done!
