How to Draw Licorice
Draw licorice in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the front twist.
Step 1: The front twist
Below the middle of your paper draw a long fat rope with round ends, lying flat from left to right.
Step 2: One S line
Near the left end draw a slanted S line across the rope, from the bottom edge up to the top.
Step 3: Twist lines
Draw 7 more S lines the same way along the rope, evenly spaced, all leaning right.
Step 4: A twist behind
Just above it draw a shorter rope with round ends. Its bottom edge hides behind the first rope.
Step 5: More twist lines
Draw 7 S lines across the second rope, leaning the same way. Start each at the front rope.
Step 6: The back twist
Above that draw the shortest rope, gently curved, peeking out from behind the second rope.
Step 7: Last twist lines
Draw 6 S lines across the back rope too, starting at the rope in front, all leaning right.
Step 8: The ground
Draw a long ground line right under the front rope, from well left to well right.
Step 9: Pink shines
Go over your lines. Colour a thin pink streak along the top of each rope for a shine.
Step 10: Red licorice
Colour all 3 ropes red, going around the pink shines. Your licorice is ready to eat!
