How to Draw a Leaf
Draw a leaf in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the top point.
Step 1: The top point
Start on the left. Zig up over 3 points, the middle one tallest. Stop level with your start.
Step 2: Two side points
From each end of your line zig out to a long side point, then back in below it.
Step 3: Two bottom points
From each side draw one more small point, then come in. Stop just before the two lines meet.
Step 4: The stem
Start at the little gap. Draw a thin curved stem down and back up, a bit thicker at its round end.
Step 5: The middle vein
Start where the stem joins the leaf. Draw a straight vein up and stop just short of the top point.
Step 6: Four more veins
From the same spot draw 4 straight veins, 2 to the side points and 2 to the bottom points.
Step 7: Side veins
Off the middle vein and the 2 long veins draw 4 short veins that slant out, like fish bones.
Step 8: Two little leaves
Below the big leaf draw 2 small pointed leaves, one each side of the stem. Add a line along each.
Step 9: Orange leaf
Colour the big leaf orange, right out to every point.
Step 10: Brown stem, yellow leaves
Colour the stem brown and the 2 little leaves yellow. Go over your lines and your leaf is done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a leaf, drawn by you.
