How to Draw a Lagoon

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a lagoon in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the sea line.

Print

  1. Step 1: The sea line

A third of the way down, draw a straight line from edge to edge: the far edge of the sea.

  2. Step 2: The sand spit

Start at the left edge under the sea. Draw a finger of sand pointing right, back to the left edge.

Tip Draw a line from the tip to the edge where the lagoon meets the sea.

  3. Step 3: The near shore

Low down draw a soft wavy line from edge to edge for the beach. The water between is the lagoon.

  4. Step 4: Three coconuts

On the sand spit, left of the middle, a hand above it, draw 3 round coconuts in a bunch.

  5. Step 5: Two fronds

From the coconuts draw a long pointy leaf drooping down to the left, and another curving up to the left.

  6. Step 6: Three more fronds

From the coconuts draw 3 more pointy leaves: one up, one up right, one drooping right. Add middle lines.

  7. Step 7: The trunk

Start on the sand under the coconuts. Draw 2 close curved trunk lines up to the coconuts. Add 4 rings.

  8. Step 8: Fish and ripples

In the lagoon draw a little fish: a pointy oval with a triangle tail and dot eye. Add some ripples.

  9. Step 9: The sun

In the top right corner draw a round sun with 8 short rays round it.

  10. Step 10: Starfish and shell

On the beach draw a little starfish on the left, and a fan-shaped shell with 3 lines on the right.

  11. Step 11: Yellow and sandy

Colour the sun, starfish, shell and fish yellow. Colour the spit and beach sandy, around the starfish and shell.

  12. Step 12: Blue sea, teal lagoon

Colour the open sea blue, and the lagoon teal, around the fish.

  13. Step 13: Green leaves, brown trunk

Colour the palm leaves green, and the trunk and coconuts brown. Go over your lines and your lagoon is done!
