How to Draw a Ladybug
Draw a ladybug in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper draw a wide egg on its side for the head. Keep it small.
Tip About a third as wide as your paper. The shell is much bigger.
Step 2: Two antennae
From the top of the head, draw 2 short curves up and out, each ending in a ball.
Step 3: Two big eyes
A little below the middle draw 2 big eggy eyes, one eye apart. Colour a big black dot in each.
Step 4: Smile and cheeks
Start under the left eye, draw a flat line across and a wide U back. Add a cheek each side.
Step 5: The shell
Start on the chin by the left cheek. Draw a big round shell and stop by the right cheek.
Tip Almost a circle, filling most of the paper. Much bigger than the head.
Step 6: Line down the middle
Start on the middle of the chin. Draw one straight line down the shell to the bottom.
Step 7: Six spots
Draw 3 round spots on the left wing: top, side and bottom. Draw 3 more on the right to match.
Tip Keep the spots clear of the middle line and the shell edge.
Step 8: Front legs
Start high on each side of the shell. Draw a thin bent leg out to a small foot.
Step 9: More legs
Start halfway down each side, draw 2 more thin bent legs, one below the other, each with a small foot.
Step 10: Pink cheeks
Go over your lines. Colour the 2 cheeks pink.
Step 11: Red shell
Colour the shell red around the spots, and the open mouth red too. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Black head and spots
Colour the head black, around the eyes, cheeks and mouth. Colour the spots, antenna balls and legs black.
