How to Draw a Komodo Dragon
Draw a komodo dragon in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
On the left, draw a long head lying on its side: a blunt snout in front, a round dome behind.
Step 2: One big eye
Under the dome, draw one big circle eye. Add a big black dot with a white shine.
Step 3: Grin and nostril
From the snout tip, draw a grin along the jaw, curling up to stop under the eye. Dot a nostril.
Step 4: Forked tongue
At the snout tip, draw a thin tongue poking out, split into a Y fork at its end.
Step 5: Back and tail
Start behind the dome. Draw a long level back, then slope down to a tip near the ground.
Step 6: The tummy
Start under the chin. Draw a low, level tummy back, then on under the tail to meet the tip.
Step 7: Front leg
On the chest, draw a round shoulder. Bend a short leg down to a flat foot with 2 toe lines.
Step 8: Back leg
On the hip, draw a round thigh. Bend the leg down to a flat foot with 2 toe lines.
Step 9: The far legs
In front of each leg, draw a thin far leg peeking out, from the tummy down to a small foot.
Step 10: The tummy line
Start behind the jaw. Draw a line along the body, just above the tummy. Stop under the tail.
Step 11: The ground
Draw one long straight ground line under all the feet, from the left to the right.
Step 12: Sandy tummy, pink tongue
Colour the long tummy stripe sand, from the chin to under the tail. Colour the tongue pink.
Step 13: Grey dragon
Colour the head, body, tail and the 2 near legs grey, around the sandy stripe. Leave the eye white.
Step 14: Slate far legs
Colour the 2 far legs slate grey. Your komodo dragon is done!
