How to Draw Ladybug Wings

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw ladybug wings in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top draw a wide sideways egg for the head, round on top and flatter underneath. Keep it small.

Tip The wing cases below will spread much wider than the head.

  2. Step 2: Two antennae

From the top of the head draw 2 short thick curves up and out, each stopping at a ball.

Tip The stalk stops when it touches the ball; it does not poke inside.

  3. Step 3: Two big eyes

On the middle of the head draw 2 big eggy eyes, an eye apart. Add black dots with tiny shines.

  4. Step 4: Smile

Under the eyes draw an open smile: a flat line across, with a wide U hanging under it.

Tip The smile is a little wider than one eye.

  5. Step 5: The body

From the left cheek draw a round egg body hanging under the head, up to stop at the right cheek.

Tip The body is a round egg, a little taller than the head.

  6. Step 6: Open wing cases

From the chin draw a long egg leaning out and a little down on each side, like wings flipped open.

Tip The body stays in front, so each case tucks behind it.

  7. Step 7: Four spots

Draw 2 round spots on each wing case: one near the top and one near the far end.

  8. Step 8: See-through wings

Behind each wing case draw a long thin see-through wing hanging down and out, like a big leaf.

  9. Step 9: Top legs

Under each wing case, start on the body and draw a bent leg out, then down to a ball foot.

Tip Each leg is fat where it leaves the body and thin at the foot.

  10. Step 10: Middle and back legs

Below each top leg, draw 2 more bent legs from the body, with ball feet. Six legs in all!

  11. Step 11: Sky wings, pink cheeks

Colour the see-through wings pale sky blue around the legs. Add a pink cheek at each end of the smile.

  12. Step 12: Red wing cases

Colour both wing cases red around the spots, and the open mouth red too. Leave the eyes white.

  13. Step 13: Black head, grey body

Colour the body grey. Colour the head black around the eyes, cheeks and smile, then spots, antenna balls and legs.
