How to Draw a King of Hearts

12 steps · Medium · about 9 min

Draw a king of hearts in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the card.

Print

  1. Step 1: The card

In the middle of your paper draw a tall rectangle with rounded corners, twice as tall as it is wide.

  2. Step 2: A big heart

In the middle of the card draw a big heart: 2 round bumps on top, a point at the bottom.

  3. Step 3: A happy face

In the heart draw 2 big round eyes. Add a curly moustache, a wide U smile under it, and cheeks.

  4. Step 4: A tall crown

On top of the heart draw a tall crown: a flat base across the bumps, 4 points, middle ones taller.

  5. Step 5: Band and gems

Draw a line across the crown above the base for the band, and 3 small round gems on it.

  6. Step 6: The border

Inside the card draw a second rounded rectangle a finger in from the edge, all the way round.

  7. Step 7: Corner marks

In the top-left corner draw a K with a tiny heart under it. In the bottom-right draw them upside down.

  8. Step 8: A card behind

Behind the card draw a second card peeking out, tilted a little to the left, only its edges showing.

  9. Step 9: Sparkles

Draw 4 small sparkle stars near the corners, not touching the cards, each a plus sign with curvy dips.

  10. Step 10: Yellow crown, pink cheeks

Colour the crown yellow around the 3 gems, and the 4 sparkle stars yellow. Colour the cheeks pink.

  11. Step 11: Red hearts and gems

Colour the big heart red around the crown and face, and the 2 tiny hearts and 3 gems red.

    Tip Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Brown moustache, blue card

Colour the moustache brown and the card behind blue. Go over your lines and your king of hearts is done!
