How to Draw Kawaii Faces

Draw kawaii faces in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: two soft squares.

Step 1: Two soft squares
In the top half of your paper, draw 2 soft rounded squares side by side, with a gap between.
Tip Round every corner so they look squishy.
Step 2: Two more below
Under them, draw 2 more squares the same size, lined up with the top 2, making a grid of 4.
Step 3: Happy eyes
In the top-left square, draw 2 big egg eyes one eye apart, with a black dot and shine in each.
Step 4: Happy smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a small U smile, and a little oval cheek out beside each end of the smile.
Step 5: Laughing eyes
In the top-right square, draw 2 happy closed eyes, like little rainbows.
Step 6: Open smile and cheeks
Under the eyes, draw a small open smile with a flat top, and a little oval cheek on each side.
Step 7: Big shiny eyes
In the bottom-left square, draw 2 big round eyes, with a black dot and shine in each.
Step 8: Big grin and cheeks
Under the eyes, draw a wide open grin with a flat top, and a little oval cheek on each side.
Step 9: Heart eyes
In the bottom-right square, draw 2 hearts for eyes, one eye apart: 2 bumps on top and a point below.
Step 10: Loving smile and sparkles
Under the hearts, draw a small U smile and a cheek each side. Add a sparkle star on each side.
Step 11: Yellow and peach
Colour the grinning square and the sparkles yellow, and the happy square peach, around the eyes, cheeks and mouth.
Tip Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Sky and green
Colour the laughing square sky blue and the heart-eyes square green. Colour around the eyes, cheeks and mouths.
Step 13: Red hearts, pink cheeks
Colour the hearts and open mouths red, and every cheek pink. Go over your lines. Four kawaii faces, done!
