How to Draw a Dodecahedron
Draw a dodecahedron in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: front pentagon.
Step 1: Front pentagon
In the middle of your paper draw a pentagon: a point on top, 2 slanted sides and a flat bottom.
Tip A pentagon has 5 equal sides. Leave lots of room all round it.
Step 2: Two big eyes
In the middle of the pentagon draw 2 big egg eyes side by side. Colour a black dot in each.
Tip Leave a tiny white dot in each black dot. That is the shine.
Step 3: Big smile
Under the eyes draw a big wide U smile from under the left eye over to the right eye.
Step 4: Rosy cheeks
Under the outside of each eye, beside the ends of the smile, draw one small sideways oval cheek.
Step 5: Five corner lines
From each corner of the pentagon draw a short straight line pointing out, away from the middle. Stop early.
Tip Make all 5 lines the same length, about half a pentagon side.
Step 6: Two top faces
From the end of the top line, draw 2 lines down to the next line's end. Do both sides.
Tip The 2 lines bend outward where they meet, like a bent elbow.
Step 7: Two side faces
From there, draw 2 more lines down to the end of the next line. Do both sides again.
Step 8: Bottom face
Join the last 2 line ends with a wide V, from the left end down to the right end.
Tip Count the corners round the outside. There are 10!
Step 9: Sparkles
Draw 2 sparkle stars on each side of the dodecahedron, one high and one low.
Tip A sparkle star has 4 points: up, down, left and right.
Step 10: Floor and shadow
Under the bottom point draw a thin flat oval shadow. Add a floor line out from each end.
Step 11: Yellow sparkles, light tops
Go over your lines. Colour the 4 sparkles yellow and the 2 top faces light blue.
Step 12: Pink cheeks, blue front
Colour the cheeks pink. Colour the front pentagon blue, around the face. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Grey shadow, dark faces
Colour the shadow grey and the 3 bottom faces dark blue. Your dodecahedron is done!
