How to Draw a Kappa

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a kappa in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top of your paper draw a wide head with a flat top and a soft chin.

  2. Step 2: Two big eyes

Near the top of the head draw 2 big round eyes. Add a big black dot and a shine.

Tip Leave room above the eyes for the hair.

  3. Step 3: Water dish and hair

On top of the head draw a flat saucer. Under it draw bumpy hair from side to side.

Tip A kappa keeps water in the dish. If it spills, it loses its power.

  4. Step 4: Squat tummy

Start under the left cheek. Draw a fat C down and round for the tummy. Stop under the right cheek.

  5. Step 5: Belly patch

Inside the tummy draw one big oval for the belly patch, a finger in from the edge.

  6. Step 6: Arms and hands

Start under the left cheek. Draw a bent arm down past the tummy, ending in 3 fingers. Do both.

  7. Step 7: Folded legs

Start half way down the left arm. Draw a fat bean knee and stop on the hand. Do both.

  8. Step 8: Big webbed feet

Start at the bottom of each knee. Draw a paddle foot with 3 toes and stop on the knee.

  9. Step 9: Shell and ground

Draw a shell edge from the head to each knee, with a line across. Draw the ground under the feet.

  10. Step 10: Smiling beak

Under the eyes draw a round beak with a smiling line across. Add an oval cheek on each side.

  11. Step 11: Yellow beak, cream belly

Colour the beak yellow and the belly patch cream.

  12. Step 12: Pink cheeks, blue dish

Colour the cheeks pink and the water dish blue.

  13. Step 13: Green kappa, brown shell

Go over your lines. Colour the kappa green around the face and belly, and the shell brown.

    Tip Leave the eyes white.
