How to Draw a Seaplane

13 steps · Medium · about 10 min

Draw a seaplane in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the body.

Print

  1. Step 1: The body

Across the middle draw a chubby banana body flying right, with a flat top, fat belly and big round nose.

  2. Step 2: Big eyes and smile

Draw 2 eyes near the nose, with dots and shines. Start a smile under one eye, stop under the other.

  3. Step 3: Nose cone

Start on top of the nose tip. Draw a half-dome cone, stopping under the nose. Add a hub circle.

  4. Step 4: Propeller blades

From the hub draw 2 paddle blades, one up and one down, each swelling to a round end.

  5. Step 5: Cockpit window

Above the eyes draw a half-dome bubble sitting on the top line like a hat, with a shine curve inside.

  6. Step 6: The high wing

On the cockpit draw a long thin wing, round in front, pointy behind. Add a strut down to the body.

Tip A seaplane carries its wing up high, out of the spray.

  7. Step 7: Tail fin

Start on the top line near the back. Sweep a fin up and back, then down to the tail end.

  8. Step 8: Tail wing

Start on the tail end under the fin. Draw a small wing poking back to a round tip, and back.

  9. Step 9: Stripe and windows

Start on the tail end. Draw a stripe along the body, stopping near the nose. Add 2 windows above.

  10. Step 10: The float

Under the tummy draw 2 short struts like a V. Under them draw one long boat float.

Tip The float is as long as the body, right under the middle.

  11. Step 11: Waves

Start under the tail. Draw wave bumps across the bottom of the float, stopping under the propeller.

Tip The float sits in the water: rub out its bottom line under the waves.

  12. Step 12: Yellow and sky blue

Colour the wing, fin, tail wing and the belly under the stripe yellow. Colour the cockpit and windows sky blue.

  13. Step 13: Grey and red

Colour the nose cone, propeller and struts grey. Colour the float and body above the stripe red, around the windows.

    Tip Leave the eyes white.
