How to Draw a Horse Carriage
Draw a horse carriage in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the cabin.
Step 1: The cabin
Across the middle of your paper draw a big box, wider than it is high, with rounded top corners.
Step 2: The roof
On top of the cabin draw a roof like a gentle hill, poking out a little past each top corner.
Step 3: Big and small wheels
Under the cabin draw 2 round wheels, big at the back, smaller at the front. Small circle in each middle.
Step 4: Door and windows
On the front half draw a door from the floor up and back down. Add 2 windows and a knob.
Step 5: The spokes
In each wheel draw 2 straight spokes making a cross, from rim to rim through the hub.
Step 6: Driver's bench
From the front wall draw a seat below the windows, a footboard at the floor and a slanting leg between.
Step 7: The step
Under the door draw a small flat step hanging from the floor, a little narrower than the door.
Step 8: The shaft
From the footboard draw 1 long pole out to the right for the horse, stopping before the edge.
Step 9: The lamp
From the front wall under the roof draw an arm, stopping a finger away. Hang a lantern with a cap.
Step 10: The ground
Start left of the big wheel and draw 1 long line to the right, touching the bottom of both wheels.
Step 11: Yellow wheels and lamp
Go over your lines. Colour the wheels and the lantern glass yellow, and the hubs grey.
Step 12: Blue windows, red cabin
Colour the windows sky blue, then the cabin red around them.
Step 13: Slate roof, brown shaft
Colour the roof, bench, step and lantern top and base slate grey. Colour the shaft brown.
