How to Draw a Haunted House

Draw a haunted house in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: pointy roof.

Step 1: Pointy roof
Near the top of your paper draw a tall pointy roof like a witch's hat, with a wide brim.
Tip The roof is more than half the house.
Step 2: The walls
Start under the brim on the left. Draw a wall down, across and up to the brim on the right.
Tip The walls are narrower than the roof.
Step 3: The door
In the middle of the wall draw a tall door with a rainbow top. Add a round window and knob.
Step 4: Step and ground
Draw a step under the door. Start a ground line at each wall corner, stop near the edge. Add grass.
Step 5: Three windows
Draw a big square window on each side of the door. Draw a round window in the roof.
Step 6: Boards
Draw a shelf under each square window and cross 2 planks over it. Draw a plus in the round window.
Step 7: The chimney
On the right roof slope draw a stout box chimney with a cap. Start and stop on the roof line.
Tip Keep the chimney top below the roof point.
Step 8: Bats
In the sky draw 3 bats: pointy wings with a bumpy bottom and 2 pointy ears.
Step 9: Two gravestones
At each bottom corner of the house draw a gravestone with a round top. Add a small cross on each.
Step 10: Moon and stones
In the top left corner draw a crescent moon. Add 3 flat stepping stones below the step.
Step 11: Glowing yellow
Colour all 3 windows, the little door window and the moon yellow so they glow.
Step 12: Grey walls, brown door
Colour the walls, gravestones and stepping stones pale grey, around the yellow windows. Colour the door and step brown.
Step 13: Dark roof and bats
Colour the roof, chimney and bats dark grey, around the round yellow window. Your haunted house is done!
