How to Draw a Handheld Console
Draw a handheld console in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the wide body.
Step 1: The wide body
In the middle of your paper, draw a long rounded box lying on its side, as wide as 2 hands.
Tip The screen goes in the middle, controls on both sides.
Step 2: Two big eyes
In the middle of the body, draw 2 egg eyes one eye apart, each with a black dot and shine.
Step 3: Smile and cheeks
Under the eyes draw a U smile, and a small flat oval cheek beside each end of the smile.
Step 4: Panels and screen
Draw a straight line down near each end, then a big box around the face for the screen.
Step 5: The joystick
On the left panel, near the top, draw a circle for the joystick with a small circle inside it.
Step 6: Four buttons
On the right panel, near the top, draw 4 small circles in a diamond: up, right, down, left.
Step 7: Second stick
Under the buttons, draw a smaller circle with a small circle inside for the second stick.
Step 8: Shoulder bumps
On top of the body, draw a low rounded bump at each end for the shoulder buttons.
Step 9: Ground and sparkles
Draw a long ground line under the console, sticking out at both ends, and a sparkle above each end.
Step 10: Pink cheeks, yellow buttons
Colour the cheeks pink and the four buttons yellow.
Step 11: Sky blue screen
Colour the screen sky blue around the face. Leave the eyes white.
Step 12: Red and blue panels
Colour the left panel red and the right panel blue, going around the sticks and buttons.
Step 13: Slate grey frame
Go over your lines, then colour the frame, sticks and shoulder bumps slate grey around the screen. Game on!
