How to Draw a Gyrocopter
Draw a gyrocopter in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: helmet and face.
Step 1: Helmet and face
Draw a plum-sized round helmet left of the middle. Add a brim line, 2 dot eyes and a smile.
Tip The pilot sits right out in the open: a gyrocopter has no cabin.
Step 2: Body in the seat
Under the helmet draw a long tub with a round nose. Draw shoulders that start and stop on its top.
Step 3: Arm and windscreen
Draw an arm from the shoulder down into the tub. On the tub's nose draw a small curved windscreen.
Step 4: Mast and rotor
From behind the seat draw a mast up to a hub above the helmet. Add 2 long flat blades.
Tip Like a bar balanced on top: the rotor spins free in the wind.
Step 5: Engine and pusher prop
Behind the seat draw an engine box. On its back add a hub with blades pointing up and down.
Step 6: Tail boom and fin
From under the engine draw a long thin boom straight back, ending in a tall fin with a round top.
Step 7: Wheels and ground
Under the seat draw 2 legs down to small wheels, front and back. Rule a ground line under both.
Step 8: Red seat and body
Go over your lines, then colour the tub, the engine box and the tail fin red.
Step 9: Blue pilot, white helmet
Colour the pilot's body and arm blue and the windscreen light blue. Leave the helmet white.
Step 10: Grey rotor and prop
Colour the mast, hub and rotor blades grey, and the propeller hub and its blades grey too.
Step 11: Slate boom and wheels
Colour the tail boom, the two legs and the wheels slate grey.
Step 12: Peach face, pink cheeks
Colour the pilot's face peach under the brim, with 2 rosy pink cheeks. Your gyrocopter is ready to buzz!
