How to Draw a Guatemala Flag
Draw a guatemala flag in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: pole and ground.
Step 1: Pole and ground
Draw a tall thin pole on the left, a ball on top, and a ground line from edge to edge.
Step 2: The waving flag
Start on the pole below the ball. Draw a wavy top edge, a straight right side, a wavy bottom edge.
Tip Make the flag big. It has to hold a wreath and a bird.
Step 3: Two band lines
Start on the top edge. Draw 2 straight lines down and stop at the bottom edge, making 3 even bands.
Step 4: Leaves on the left
In the middle band draw 4 pointed leaves, tip to tail, curving up like a big letter C.
Tip Start at the bottom. Leave room inside the curve for the bird.
Step 5: Leaves on the right
Start where the first leaf began. Draw 4 matching leaves curving up the other side. Leave the top open.
Step 6: The scroll
Inside the wreath, just below the middle, draw a small flat box for the paper scroll.
Tip On the real flag the scroll has a date written on it.
Step 7: The quetzal bird
Sitting on the scroll, draw a small bird: round head, plump body, pointy beak and a dot eye.
Tip The quetzal is the national bird of Guatemala. It looks to the left.
Step 8: Long tail
From the bird's back draw a long thin tail hanging down across the scroll, ending in a point.
Tip A quetzal's tail is longer than its body.
Step 9: Yellow ball, grey pole
Colour the ball on top of the pole yellow and the pole grey.
Step 10: Sky blue bands
Colour the left band and the right band light blue. Leave the middle band white.
Step 11: Pale yellow scroll
Colour the scroll pale yellow, around the bird's tail.
Step 12: Green bird and leaves
Colour the bird, its tail and all 8 leaves green. Go over your lines and your flag is waving!
