How to Draw a Great Dane
Draw a Great Dane in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: tall head.
Step 1: Tall head
Near the top, draw a tall head with a flat top, full cheeks and a square chin.
Tip A great dane's head is long: make it taller than it is wide.
Step 2: Floppy ears
On each top corner of the head, draw a big soft ear folding over and hanging down beside the face.
Step 3: Two big eyes
Above the middle of the head, draw 2 egg eyes a gap apart. Add black dots with shines.
Step 4: Square muzzle
Start under the eyes. Draw a tall square muzzle down to the chin. Add a black nose at the top.
Step 5: Smile and tongue
From the nose, draw a short line down to a w smile. Hang a small U tongue under it.
Step 6: Long neck and body
Start under each side of the jaw. Draw a line down the long neck and out round to the bottom.
Step 7: Collar and tag
Start on one side of the neck. Draw 2 sagging curves across to the other. Hang a round tag below.
Step 8: Long front legs
From each shoulder, draw a long leg down to a round paw and back up to the middle. Add toes.
Step 9: Haunches and back paws
At each bottom corner, draw a hill paw with 2 toes. Curve a haunch from the side down to it.
Step 10: Whip tail
Start at the right hip. Draw a long thin tail curving down to rest on the ground.
Step 11: The ground
Draw a long ground line under all 4 paws and the tail.
Step 12: Tan fur
Colour the fur tan and the tag yellow, around the muzzle, ears and collar. Leave the eyes white.
Step 13: Pink tongue, red collar
Colour the tongue pink and the collar red.
Step 14: Dark grey mask
Colour the muzzle and both ears dark grey, around the black nose and the pink tongue.
