How to Draw a Sleeping Gorilla
Draw a sleeping gorilla in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: tall egg head.
Step 1: Tall egg head
On the left, draw a big egg head with a tall narrow top and full round cheeks.
Tip The tall top is the gorilla's crest.
Step 2: Face patch
Inside the bottom of the head, draw a wide round face patch. Dip its top in the middle.
Tip Keep the patch inside the head, away from the edge.
Step 3: Sleeping eyes
In the top half of the patch, draw 2 U curves side by side. These eyes are shut.
Tip A U curve looks fast asleep.
Step 4: Nose and smile
Colour 2 nostril dots under the eyes. Under them, draw a small smile from left to right.
Step 5: Small ears
Draw a small C ear on each side of the head, level with the middle.
Step 6: Arm pillow
Start behind the head. Draw a thick arm down to the ground and along under the chin to a fist.
Tip The chin rests on the arm like a pillow.
Step 7: Big round back
Start behind the top of the head. Draw a big round back over and down to the ground.
Step 8: Curled back leg
On the right end, draw a round thigh. Add a foot on the ground, pointing at the elbow.
Step 9: Fingers and toes
Draw 2 short lines up from the ground on the fist, and 2 on the foot.
Step 10: Sleepy zzz
Above the head, draw 3 letter Z shapes floating up, each one bigger than the last.
Step 11: Ground line
Draw a long flat ground line under the gorilla, from the far left to the far right.
Step 12: Light grey
Colour the face patch, the fist and the foot light grey.
Step 13: Dark grey fur
Colour the head, ears, arm, back and leg dark grey, around the light grey parts.
Tip Go over your lines when the colour is done.
