How to Draw a Giraffe Eating

14 steps · Tricky · about 11 min

Draw a giraffe eating in 14 steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: big round head.

Print

  1. Step 1: Big round head

Near the top left, draw a big round head, a little wider than tall. Leave room on the right.

  2. Step 2: Eyes and nose

Draw 2 big oval eyes on the head, a gap apart. Below, add an egg nose, dots and a smile.

Tip The egg nose hangs a little below the chin.

  3. Step 3: Horns and ears

On top of the head, draw 2 lollipop horns. On each top corner, draw a leaf ear pointing up.

  4. Step 4: The neck

Start behind the head and under the chin. Draw 2 neck lines down to the body. Add mane bumps.

  5. Step 5: Bean body

From the bottom of the neck, draw a big soft bean body: a long back, a round bottom, a tummy.

  6. Step 6: Two legs

Draw a low ground line. Add a front leg under the chest and a back leg under the bottom.

Tip A hoof is a little doorstop with a line across its top.

  7. Step 7: Far legs

Add 2 thinner far legs peeking out beside the near legs, with hoof lines. All 4 hooves touch the ground.

  8. Step 8: Tufty tail

From the top corner of the bottom, draw a thin tail hanging down. Add a leaf tuft at the end.

  9. Step 9: Patches

Draw 2 soft round patches on the neck and 5 on the body. Keep each one inside the lines.

  10. Step 10: Leafy branch

Left of the head, draw a thin branch to the snout. Add 5 leaves and 1 in the mouth.

  11. Step 11: Colour it yellow

Go over your lines. Colour the giraffe yellow, but leave the patches white. Colour the nose sandy.

Tip Leave the eyes white. Save the ear insides, horn knobs, mane, tuft and hooves for later.

  12. Step 12: Colour the patches

Colour the ear insides peach and the patches ginger.

  13. Step 13: Brown knobs and hooves

Colour the horn knobs, mane, tuft and hooves brown.

  14. Step 14: Green leaves

Colour the leaves green and the branch brown.
