How to Draw a Fuchsia
Draw a fuchsia in 12 steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the arching stem.
Step 1: The arching stem
Start low left. Draw 2 lines curving up and over like a hook, closing to a thin point.
Tip Keep the stem thick at the bottom and thin at the tip, like a real branch.
Step 2: The first lantern
From the tip of the stem draw a tiny stalk hanging down. On it draw a short fat tube.
Step 3: Wings and skirt
From the bottom of the tube draw 4 pointed petals: 2 up like wings, 2 down. Add a round skirt.
Step 4: Hanging threads
From the skirt draw 3 thin threads hanging down, the middle one longest, each ending in a dot.
Step 5: A second lantern
Further back along the stem draw another stalk, tube, 4 petals and skirt, the same way.
Step 6: A third lantern
Lower down the stem draw a third one, a little smaller, with its stalk, tube, petals and skirt.
Step 7: More threads
Give the other 2 lanterns 3 thin threads each, hanging from the skirt, each ending in a dot.
Step 8: Leaves
Draw 4 small pointed leaves along the stem, each starting on the stem and pointing out.
Step 9: Ground and grass
Start near the left edge and draw a ground line through the stem, stopping near the right edge. Add grass.
Step 10: Red tubes and wings
Colour the tubes and all the pointed petals red.
Step 11: Purple skirts
Colour the 3 skirts purple, around the red petals.
Step 12: Green stem and leaves
Colour the stem and leaves green, around the red petals, and your fuchsia is done!
