How to Draw a Frogfish
Draw a frogfish in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: lumpy ball body.
Step 1: Lumpy ball body
Draw a big lumpy ball in the middle of the paper. Give it a flat bottom.
Tip Keep the bumps soft and shallow, like a potato with fins.
Step 2: Huge wide mouth
Start at the ball's left edge. Draw a mouth line slanting up to the eye spot. Add a bottom lip.
Tip The mouth turns up at the corner, like a happy frog.
Step 3: Eye and lure
Draw a big eye above the mouth corner. From the forehead draw a short stalk up to a tiny tuft.
Tip The lure is a tiny worm on a stick to catch dinner.
Step 4: Leg fins
Start at the ball's bottom left. Draw a bent leg down to a flat foot. Do the right one too.
Tip Frogfish walk on their fins, like little arms.
Step 5: Toes
On each foot draw 2 short lines for toes.
Step 6: Back fin and tail
Draw a small fin on top, starting and stopping on the ball. Add a round paddle tail on the right.
Step 7: Gill and spots
Draw a long C behind the eye for the gill. Add 4 round spots behind it.
Step 8: Bubbles
In front of the face draw 3 bubbles floating up. Make each one bigger than the last.
Step 9: Sand and seaweed
Draw a wavy line across the paper under both feet. Stand 3 tall wavy seaweed blades on it.
Step 10: Orange frogfish, red mouth
Colour the body and leg fins orange. Leave the eye and spots white. Colour the inside of the mouth red.
Step 11: Ginger fins, sandy floor
Colour the back fin and tail darker orange. Colour the floor under the sand line sandy, around the seaweed.
Step 12: Blue bubbles, green seaweed
Colour the bubbles light blue and the seaweed green. Go over your lines and your frogfish is done!
