How to Draw a Footprint
Draw a footprint in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the sole.
Step 1: The sole
In the middle draw a tall bean: wide at the top, narrow at the bottom, dipping in on the left.
Tip The dip is the arch of the foot. It never touches the ground.
Step 2: The big toe
Above the top left of the sole, leaving a small gap, draw an egg shape for the big toe.
Step 3: The next toe
Beside the big toe draw a smaller oval, just as high, with a gap all round it.
Tip Toe prints never touch each other or the sole.
Step 4: Three little toes
Draw 3 more ovals curving down to the right, each one a bit smaller than the last.
Tip Count them: a foot has 5 toes.
Step 5: The sea
Near the top of your paper draw a wavy line from the left edge to the right edge.
Tip Make 3 gentle bumps, like a slow wave.
Step 6: The foam
Just under it draw a second wavy line from edge to edge, for the foam on the sand.
Step 7: Pebbles
Draw 3 small oval pebbles on the sand: one on the left, one on the right, one low down.
Step 8: Sandy beach
Go over your lines. Colour the sand a pale sandy yellow, around the footprint and the pebbles.
Tip Keep the footprint and the pebbles white for now.
Step 9: Grey pebbles, blue sea
Colour the pebbles grey and the sea blue. Leave the foam white.
Step 10: Brown footprint
Colour the sole and all 5 toes brown, like wet sand. Your footprint is done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: a footprint, drawn by you.
