How to Draw a Fly
Draw a fly in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.
Step 1: The head
Near the top of your paper draw a big wide egg lying on its side, with full round cheeks.
Tip Leave lots of room below for the body and legs.
Step 2: Two huge eyes
On each side of the head draw a huge tall egg eye, half as tall as the head.
Tip A fly's eyes are enormous and take up most of its head.
Step 3: A little smile
Between the eyes, start under the left eye. Draw a small U smile and stop under the right eye.
Step 4: The body
Start on the chin under the left eye. Draw a fat egg hanging down and stop under the right eye.
Step 5: Two stripes
A finger under the head draw a smile line from side to side of the body. Add another lower.
Step 6: Two wings
On each side, start on the body under the head. Draw a teardrop wing up past the eye and back.
Step 7: Front legs
On each side, start on the body under the wing. Draw a bent leg out to a ball foot.
Tip Make each leg fat at the body and thin at the foot.
Step 8: Middle legs
On each side, start on the body by the top stripe. Draw a bent leg out to a ball foot.
Step 9: Back legs
On each side, start under the bottom stripe. Draw a bent leg down to a ball foot. 6 legs!
Tip The 3 feet on each side fan out wider than the knees.
Step 10: Grey fly, red eyes
Colour the head and the body grey. Colour the 2 huge eyes red, leaving the black dots and shines.
Step 11: White wings, dark legs
Colour the wings white, and colour all 6 legs and their ball feet dark grey.
