How to Draw a Flamingo Family

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a flamingo family in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: first body.

Print

  1. Step 1: First body

On the left draw an egg body lying on its side, with a pointed tail. Add a wing inside.

Tip Leave lots of room above it for the neck.

  2. Step 2: Tall S neck

Start on the body. Draw a long S neck up, loop round a small head, and stop on the body.

Tip Rub out the body line inside the neck.

  3. Step 3: Bent bill, round eye

On the head draw a bill that bends down, with a line across it. Add an eye with a dot.

  4. Step 4: One leg up

Draw 1 long thin leg straight down with a knee bump. Fold the other leg up, like a number 4.

Tip Flamingos love to stand on one leg.

  5. Step 5: Second body

On the right draw a bigger egg body with its tail pointing right. Add a wing inside.

  6. Step 6: Bending neck

Start on its front. Draw a hooked neck up and over, loop round a low head, stop on the body.

Tip This flamingo is looking down at its chick.

  7. Step 7: Second bill

On that head draw a bent bill pointing down, with a line across it. Add an eye with a dot.

  8. Step 8: Two long legs

Under the second body draw 2 long thin legs, each with a small knee bump.

Tip Make all the legs stop at the same level.

  9. Step 9: Fluffy chick

Between the big birds draw a small round head. Start and stop on it to add an egg body.

Tip A chick has a big head and a short neck.

  10. Step 10: Chick's face and legs

Give the chick a short pointed bill, an eye with a dot, a little wing and 2 short legs.

  11. Step 11: Shallow water

From the left edge draw 1 wavy line to the right edge, across the bottom of all the legs.

  12. Step 12: Cream and grey

Colour the top of both big bills cream. Colour the chick light grey. Leave the eyes white.

  13. Step 13: Pink flamingos

Colour both big flamingos pink: head, neck, body and legs.

  14. Step 14: Black tips, blue water

Colour the water blue. Colour the 2 big bill tips black. Colour the chick's bill and legs dark grey.
