How to Draw a Fishing Cat

13 steps · Tricky · about 10 min

Draw a fishing cat in 13 steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the head.

Print

  1. Step 1: The head

Near the top left of your paper draw a big soft head, wider than tall, with round cheeks.

Tip A big head is what makes it cute. Leave room on the right.

  2. Step 2: Eyes and nose

Draw 2 big eyes, a triangle nose and a w smile. Whiskers from each cheek out to the side.

Tip Eyes sit in the middle of the head, and nothing touches them.

  3. Step 3: The ears

On each top corner of the head draw a round cookie ear, with a smaller curve inside.

  4. Step 4: The neck

Behind the head draw the neck down right, getting wider. From the chin draw down to the chest.

Tip The neck grows from behind the head, not off the chin.

  5. Step 5: The body

Start at the bottom of the neck. Draw a big bean body round and back up to the neck.

Tip A bean, not a loaf: the bottom is rounder and higher than the chest.

  6. Step 6: 2 legs

Draw a ground line low down. From the chest and the tummy draw legs down to round paws on it.

Tip Legs are wide at the top and narrow at the ankle.

  7. Step 7: Pool and fish

Draw a pool and a fish. Across the front paw draw a wavy line, from one side to the other.

Tip The pool sits round the front paws. Rub out the paw bottoms under the wavy line.

  8. Step 8: The far legs

Draw 2 far legs peeking out behind the near legs, then carry the wavy line across the far paw.

Tip Only draw the parts you can see.

  9. Step 9: The tail

Start at the back end. Draw a long tail down behind, curling up to a round tip, and back.

  10. Step 10: Spots

Draw 7 little spots over the back and sides, some big, some small, all inside the body.

Tip Make each spot a solid blob, not a ring.

  11. Step 11: Blue pool, peach ears

Colour the pool pale blue around the paws and the ear insides peach. Leave the eyes white.

  12. Step 12: Pink nose, grey cat

Colour the nose pink. Colour the rest of the cat grey, around the spots, eyes, ear insides and nose.

  13. Step 13: Black spots

Colour the 7 spots black. Your fishing cat is done!
