How to Draw a Skeleton Pirate

14 steps · Medium · about 11 min

Draw a skeleton pirate in 14 easy steps, about 11 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: skull.

Print

  1. Step 1: Skull

Near the top, draw a big skull: a wide round dome with a narrower jaw below.

Tip Leave a little room above for the hat.

  2. Step 2: Captain's hat

Over the skull's top draw a wide hat with 2 pointed ends. Add a band along its bottom edge.

Tip Rub out the top of the skull inside the hat.

  3. Step 3: Eye and patch

Draw 1 big round eye on the left. On the right draw a patch with 2 straps to the hat.

Tip Give the eye a big black dot and a tiny shine. Big and round looks friendly.

  4. Step 4: Nose and grin

Draw a small triangle nose. Below it draw a wide grin, like a slice of melon, with 3 tooth lines.

  5. Step 5: Striped scarf

Under the chin draw a scarf band with 4 stripe lines. On the right add a knot and 2 tails.

Tip The 4 lines cut the scarf into 5 stripes.

  6. Step 6: Spine and shoulders

Below the scarf draw a long thin spine. Near its top add a bone each side, ending in a ball.

  7. Step 7: Ribs and hip bone

Draw 2 curved ribs on each side of the spine. At its bottom draw a wide hip bone.

  8. Step 8: Arm bones

From each shoulder ball draw a bone down to an elbow ball, then another down to a wrist ball.

  9. Step 9: Hand and hook

Under the left wrist draw a hand with 3 fingers. Under the right wrist draw a cup with a hook.

Tip Rub out the wrist ball inside the cup. The hook is round and blunt.

  10. Step 10: Leg bones

Under the hip bone draw a bone down to a knee ball each side, then another to an ankle ball.

  11. Step 11: Feet and ground

Draw a foot under each ankle, pointing out. Start left of them, draw a ground line, stop on the right.

  12. Step 12: Yellow band, sand bones

Colour the hat band yellow. Colour all the bones sand, leaving the eye and the teeth white.

  13. Step 13: Red scarf, grey hook

Colour every other scarf stripe red, starting at the left, and the knot too. Colour the hook grey.

Tip The 2 stripes in between stay white. The tails are red like the knot.

  14. Step 14: Black hat and patch

Go over your lines. Colour the hat, the eye patch and the nose black.
