How to Draw an Eye

10 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw an eye in 10 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the almond.

Print

  1. Step 1: The almond

In the middle draw one big almond lying on its side, pointed at both ends, rounder on top.

Tip Make it big: as wide as your hand. The points are the eye corners.

  2. Step 2: The iris

Inside the almond draw a big circle for the iris, a little right of middle, nearly touching top and bottom.

  3. Step 3: The pupil

In the middle of the iris draw a smaller circle for the pupil, about half as wide.

  4. Step 4: Two shines

Draw a small circle top left in the pupil and a tiny one bottom right. Leave them white.

Tip The shines make the eye look wet and alive.

  5. Step 5: The eyelid

Start above the left corner. Draw a rainbow a finger above the eye. Stop a finger before the right corner.

  6. Step 6: Eyelashes

Past the end of the eyelid line, flick 3 lashes out from the top line. Make the corner one longest.

  7. Step 7: Lower lid

Under the eye, draw a smile line a little wider than the iris. Flick 2 lashes off its right end.

  8. Step 8: The eyebrow

Above the eyelid draw a thick eyebrow: fat and round on the left, thin point on the right.

  9. Step 9: Colour the iris blue

Colour the iris blue around the pupil. Leave the eye white.

  10. Step 10: Brown brow, black pupil

Colour the eyebrow brown and the pupil black around the 2 shines. Your eye is done!
