How to Draw an Esophagus
Draw an esophagus in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the long pipe.
Step 1: The long pipe
Start near the top. Draw 2 long lines down, a finger apart, wider at the top. Stop past the middle.
Tip This is the esophagus, the food pipe from your throat to your stomach.
Step 2: The open top
Join the tops with a flat oval, like the rim of a cup.
Step 3: The stomach
Start at the left line's end. Draw a big backwards C: over, down the right, round to the left.
Tip The bottom of the pipe opens into this bag.
Step 4: The inside curve
Start at the same spot. Draw a shorter curve down the inside. Stop where the big curve ended.
Tip Now the stomach looks like a fat bean with one thin end.
Step 5: The way out
Start on the thin end. Draw 2 short lines out to the left. Stop at a flat end.
Tip Food leaves the stomach this way.
Step 6: Squeeze rings
Across the long pipe draw 4 curved lines, each from one side to the other, evenly spaced.
Tip Rings of muscle squeeze your food down the pipe.
Step 7: Sparkles
Draw 3 sparkle stars, each one in an empty space.
Step 8: Yellow sparkles
Go over your lines, then colour the 3 sparkles yellow.
Step 9: Peach stomach
Colour the stomach and its short pipe peach.
Step 10: Pink food pipe
Colour the long food pipe pink, from the oval right down to the stomach.
Step 11: Dark opening
Colour the inside of the oval dark red. Your esophagus is done!

Your finished drawing
Follow the steps above and this is where you end up: an esophagus, drawn by you.
