How to Draw an Escalator
Draw an escalator in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: 2 floors.
Step 1: 2 floors
From the left edge, draw a floor line across to the right. Stand a tall block near its right end.
Step 2: The long body
Start on the floor at the left. Draw up a little, along, then slant up to the block's top corner.
Step 3: The underside
Start on the block below the corner. Draw a slant down to the floor, the same slope as the top.
Step 4: 5 steps
Start where the body begins to slant. Draw 5 little steps up and across. Stop at the block's top corner.
Step 5: The handrail
Start on the flat bottom plates. Loop a thick rail up above the steps, then down to the upper floor.
Tip The rail curls round at both ends, like a long loop.
Step 6: 2 big eyes
In the middle of the glass, draw 2 big round eyes side by side. Colour a black dot in each.
Step 7: A smile
Under the eyes draw a small U smile.
Step 8: The up sign
Start on the upper floor. Draw a tall post up to a box. Put an up arrow in the box.
Step 9: Sky glass
Colour the glass between the rail and the steps sky blue, leaving the eyes white.
Step 10: Grey body, green sign
Colour the body, the steps and the upper floor grey. Colour the sign green.
Step 11: Black handrail
Colour the handrail black. Go over your lines, and your escalator is ready to ride!
