How to Draw an Elote

11 steps · Medium · about 8 min

Draw an elote in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.

Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: the cob.

Print

  1. Step 1: The cob

Across the middle draw a long cob lying on its side, blunt on the left and round at the tip.

  2. Step 2: The stick

From the left end of the cob draw a short thick stick poking out, with a round end.

  3. Step 3: Kernel rows

On the bottom half draw 3 rows of little round bumps along the cob, each from edge to edge.

Tip Each little bump is a kernel.

  4. Step 4: Cream drizzle

Along the top of the cob draw a thick wavy band, from near the stick to near the tip.

Tip Keep the waves soft and round.

  5. Step 5: Chili dots

Inside the cream band draw 3 little circles for chili powder, one at each end and one in the middle.

  6. Step 6: Cheese crumbles

Between the chili dots draw 2 little soft round lumps of cheese, inside the band too.

  7. Step 7: The ground

Draw a ground line under the cob, from well left to well right, just touching its bottom.

  8. Step 8: Cream band

Go over your lines, then colour the band cream around the dots. Leave the crumbles white.

  9. Step 9: Yellow corn

Colour the whole cob yellow around the cream band, right to the ends.

  10. Step 10: Brown stick

Colour the stick brown, all the way to its round end.

  11. Step 11: Red chili

Colour the chili dots red. Your elote is done!
