How to Draw a Dumbo Octopus
Draw a dumbo octopus in 11 easy steps, about 8 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: soft round body.
Step 1: Soft round body
In the top half, draw 1 big soft upside-down egg, wider low down, with a round bottom.
Tip Think of a round bread roll, not a cup: the bottom is round too.
Step 2: The face
Across the middle, draw 2 big round eyes with black dots. Add a small smile and 2 round cheeks.
Step 3: Big ear fins
On each upper side of the body, draw a wide flap fin pointing out, with a soft round tip.
Tip These flappy ear fins are how it swims, and why it's called dumbo.
Step 4: Webbed skirt
From one side of the body, curve down like a bell, draw 7 round bumps, then curve back up.
Tip The bumps are the tips of the short arms, joined by the web.
Step 5: Arm lines
From each dip between the bumps, draw 1 gentle line up to the body, making 7 short arms.
Step 6: Seabed
Along the bottom of the paper, draw a gently wavy line from side to side, touching the skirt bumps.
Step 7: Seaweed
On the left, draw a tall thin seaweed leaf growing up from the seabed, with 1 line inside.
Step 8: Bubbles
On the right, between the fin and the skirt, draw 3 bubbles floating up, getting smaller.
Step 9: Peach dumbo
Colour the head and the whole skirt peach, going round the eyes and cheeks. Leave the eyes white.
Step 10: Pink cheeks and ears
Colour the cheeks pink, and both ear fins pink too.
Step 11: Green seaweed, sandy floor
Colour the seaweed green and the floor under the wavy line sandy.
