How to Draw a Dress Shirt
Draw a dress shirt in 13 easy steps, about 10 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: neck opening.
Step 1: Neck opening
Near the top draw a low rainbow, 2 fingers wide. From its ends draw a V down to a point.
Tip Leave room above for the hanger hook.
Step 2: Pointed collar
From each end of the rainbow draw a collar flap: out, down to a point, then up to the V.
Tip Make both collar points the same length.
Step 3: Shoulders and long sleeves
From each collar corner go over the shoulder, down a long sleeve, across the wrist, and up to the armpit.
Tip The sleeves lean out a little and get narrower toward the wrist.
Step 4: Two cuffs
Start at each wrist corner. Draw a short box with round corners for the cuff. Stop at the other corner.
Step 5: The body
From each armpit draw a side line straight down. Join the 2 sides with a droopy curved hem.
Tip The hem hangs lowest in the middle.
Step 6: Sleeve seams
Start on each shoulder and draw a curved seam down. Stop at the armpit.
Step 7: Button strip
Start under the collar. Draw 2 straight lines down the middle, a finger apart. Stop at the hem.
Step 8: 5 buttons
On the button strip draw 5 small round buttons, one under the other, evenly spaced.
Step 9: Chest pocket
On one side of the chest draw a small square pocket with a pointed bottom.
Step 10: Hook and rail
Start on the rainbow's middle, draw a line up and curl it into a hook. Add a rail through it.
Tip The shirt hangs from the rail, so only the hook of the hanger shows.
Step 11: Sky blue shirt
Colour the body and sleeves sky blue, around the buttons. Leave the collar and the 2 cuffs white.
Step 12: Inside the neck
Colour the inside of the neck, between the rainbow and the V, a darker blue.
Step 13: Navy buttons
Colour the 5 buttons navy blue. Go over your lines. Your dress shirt is ready to wear!
