How to Draw a Dragon in a Cave
Draw a dragon in a cave in 12 easy steps, about 9 minutes. Free, with a printable worksheet.
Each picture adds one red line. Draw that line, then scroll to the next picture. Rub out any dashed helper lines at the end. First up: head and snout.
Step 1: Head and snout
Below the middle draw a big round head with a chubby snout at the bottom left. Add a nostril.
Tip Leave room above for the cave and below for the paws.
Step 2: Horns and spikes
On top of the head draw 2 fat horns sweeping back like bananas. Add 3 little spikes down the back.
Tip Horns lean back, not up.
Step 3: 2 big eyes
On the middle of the head draw 2 big tall oval eyes, each with a black dot and shine.
Step 4: Smile, fang and cheek
Start on the snout, draw a long smile to under the back eye. Add a fang and a cheek.
Step 5: Ground and chest
Draw a ground line under the head. Add a wide chest hump behind the chin, ground to ground.
Step 6: 2 bun paws
On the ground in front of the chest draw 2 round bun paws, each with 2 short toe lines.
Step 7: Cave mouth
Start on the ground left of the head. Arch over the horns and stop on the ground at the right.
Tip Leave a gap above the horns.
Step 8: Big rock
Start on the ground at the left edge. Draw a big bumpy mound over the arch, down to the right.
Tip The rock goes higher than the arch.
Step 9: Cracks and grass
Draw a few short cracks on the rock. Add 3 grass blades at each foot of the rock.
Step 10: Yellow horns, pink cheek
Go over your lines. Colour the 2 horns yellow and the round cheek pink.
Step 11: Green dragon, purple spikes
Colour the head, chest and paws green around the cheek, leaving the eyes white. Colour the spikes purple.
Step 12: Stone rock, dark cave
Colour the rock stone grey and the inside of the cave dark navy blue, all around the dragon.
